◆This is an antique Barbotière plate made by Chovagy Le Roy.
The vividly rendered, juicy strawberries are particularly striking, and the warm, charming character of each piece comes from being carefully hand-painted one by one.
It shows little sign of use and is in very beautiful condition.
There is a small stain (see the third photo).
There is unevenness around the rim, likely present since manufacture (please see the enlarged photos).
There are minor manufacturing irregularities typical of antique ceramics (please see the enlarged photos).
No chips or cracks were found.
●Size: 21.3 cm in diameter
●Period: Circa 1878–1920
●Crazing: Present on approximately 50% of the surface
(→Crazing refers to the condition of the surface glaze caused during manufacture or over time; it is not damage (cracks).)
*Antique tableware may show kiln marks, uneven paint, wobbling, and other irregularities resulting from the manufacturing process, as well as
small chips, crazing, and scuffs.
