◆This is an antique café au lait bowl from the “Morocco” series by Santaman.
The delicate lace pattern rendered in deep green is one of the most popular designs among Morocco-patterned café au lait bowls.
The repeating geometric patterns evoke an exotic beauty.
This Moroccan pattern is one of the decorative styles that became popular around 1912 to 1956, when France ruled Morocco, and is a rare design that conveys the oriental boom of that era to the present day.
It shows little sign of use and is in very beautiful condition.
There is a tiny area on the rim that appears to be a minor chip in the glaze. (Photos 6 and 7)
There is a small area on the foot that looks like a chip, but it appears to be from the manufacturing process. (Photo 12)
There are minor manufacturing irregularities typical of antique ceramics. (Please see the enlarged photos)
No other chips or cracks were found.
●Size: 15.6 cm diameter x 9.4 cm height
●Period: Around the 1900s–1930s
●Crazing: Approximately 1% of the overall surface
(→Crazing refers to the condition of the surface glaze caused during manufacturing or over time; it is not damage (cracks).)
※Antique tableware may have kiln marks, uneven paint, wobbling, and other irregularities resulting from the manufacturing process, as well as
small chips, crazing, scratches, and signs of wear.
